Walter Becker. One of the founder members of the US band Steely Dan. Has died at the aged 67 after a long illness. No details were given on the cause of death or the illness.
Besides being a member of Steely Dan he also had a career as a solo artist. As a solo artist he released two albums including Circus Money in 2008.
Steely Dan sold more than 40 million albums and were named after a sex toy in the book Naked Lunch by William Burroughs. They released their first album called “Can’t Buy a Thrill” in 1972.
Steely Dan consisted of founder members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. Along with Jeff Baxter, Denny Dias, Jim Hodder and David Palmer.
Walter Becker missed the band’s July concerts as he was recovering from an unspecified condition.
The band originally split up in 1981. They later reformed in 1993 and went on to release two more albums. One of which “Two Against nature” won the Grammy album of the year award.
